The Star Wars fan base finally got what they were looking for on Nov. 28, 2014, when the teaser for the new movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released. After months and months of excitement and rumors surrounding Episode Seven, it was finally revealed the movie will come out on Dec. 18.

So far there have six episodes of Star Wars. The first three are the newest ones while episode four through six are the originals. The new installment of the Star Wars movies will be the seventh movie in the series. The newest movie features some returning cast members and some new faces. Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, and Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia are the returning cast members.

“My favorite Star Wars movie is the third one just because that’s when Anakin turns into Darth Vader and Darth Vader is my favorite character,” said sophomore Saki Martin. “I want the movie to be really good but I’m just hoping Disney doesn’t mess it up. Disney purchased the Star Wars franchise from George Lucas in 2012 for $4 billion.

“I was in fourth grade when the first Star Wars came out and I loved it.”

— History Teacher Randee Wittkopf

“I was in fourth grade when the first Star Wars came out and I loved it,” said history teacher Randee Wittkopf. “I loved the movie even more as I get older. My favorite movie has to be the Empire Strikes Back. My sister and I would watch it every Christmas morning while we waited for our parents to get up. I’m really hoping that it will be as good as I want it to be, but I find that with every new Star Wars movie, I’ve been disappointed.

“I just don’t want to be disappointed. I hope it will be a continuation of the original story and not just a standalone. I don’t want the movie to be filled with CGI or a storyline that’s too gimmicky or stretched out. I’m really excited to see it!

The new movie is expected to be a box office record breaker. It has already broken records for most pre-release sales for seats in movie theaters. It is expected to shatter box office records around the world.
