To commemorate members of the school community who have done “an outstanding job promoting positive human relations,” the school PTSA is holding its annual People’s Choice Awards this spring. School community members may nominate fellow members based on the criteria of their choice. Contest director Laura Lewis said voters in previous contests have nominated community members based on criteria such as “how respected and welcome they make them feel” and “who has done something special to bring people together.”
Though previous contest winners are unable to be nominated a second time, each is memorialized on a plague in the school’s Main Office. Traditionally, winners receive a certificate for recognition and an engraved paperweight as well. Nominations for the People’s Choice Awards are due May 10; Lewis said, considering the wealth of eligible students, teachers, coaches and parents, among others, those looking to participate had best submit their choices sooner rather than later.
