Northern Virginia Training Center

Opportunities: Opportunities for volunteers include assisting in special events, sponsoring events(groups), reading to residents, assisting in training residents for the Special Olympics, as well as assisting residents in training with vocational skills for the future.

Minimum age: 15

Times needed: Weekdays after school and weekends

Long term commitment: Most jobs require a long term commitment

Guitars Not Guns

Opportunities: Volunteers assist in providing guitar lessons. Those that play guitar can help with instruction; those who do not can help with the administration of the class.

Minimum age: 16. This organization is group friendly.

Times needed: Weekdays after school

Long term commitment: The long term commitment is dependant upon job

Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia

Opportunities: Volunteers are needed both on construction sites (prior experience not necessary) as well as in the office for administrative work. In addition volunteers can work in the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

Minimum age: 15

Times needed: Weekends

Long term commitment: Dependant on site and job. ReStore has no commitment
