Ingredients:
Apple Part
- 6 large apples (recommend 3 granny smith, 3 sweeter variety)
- ¼ cups of light brown sugar
- ¼ cups of granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons of cornstarch
- 1 tablespoons of ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoons of ground nutmeg
- ⅛ tablespoons of ground cloves
- ¾ teaspoon of salt
Crisp Topping
- ¾ cups of butter (cut into cubes)
- 1 ⅓ cups of old fashioned oats
- 1 ½ cups of flour
- ½ cups of light brown sugar
- ½ cups of granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoons of salt
- 1 tablespoons of ground cinnamon
Instructions:
Step 1- Start by buttering a 9 x 13 inch pan and preheat the oven to 375°F. Set the pan aside for later.
Step 2- In a large mixing bowl stir together the sugars, cornstarch, spices, and salt.
Step 3- Now peel and core the apples before slicing them into thin ⅛-¼ slices. Add the apples to the sugar mixture and toss to combine. To do this you can use two wooden spoons, or your hands. Put the apples into the buttered pan and make sure you arrange them into an even layer. Then set it aside.
Step 4- In a medium bowl, mix together the oats, flour, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. For the next instruction you can use a pastry cutter, a fork, or your hands. Cut the butter into the mixture until it resembles wet sand and clumps together. Next sprinkle the mixture over the apples evenly, this will help create the best results.
Step 5- Start baking it at 375°F for 10 minutes before reducing the temperature to 350°F which then you will be baking it for about 35 more minutes or until the topping is a golden brown color and the apple layer is bubbling. Allow it to cool before eating.
Step 6- Then it’s time to enjoy!
