Apple Pie Recipe

When making apple pie, one of the most important ingredients is apples. Not every kind of apple works. Certain types hold their shape better; others may not have the ideal pie flavor, but ultimately it’s up to the baker.

To start out the pie always starts with the crust, which you can do by finding the best crust recipe or buying a pre-made one at the nearest store.

Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ teaspoon ground allspice
  • 6 cups thinly sliced peeled cooking apples( about 2 ¼ pounds)
  • Pastry for Single Crust Pie

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a mixing bowl combine the sugar, flour, cinnamon, and allspice. Add apples and make sure all fruit is coated. Transfer to a 1 ½ quart casserole.
  3. Prepare Pastry for Single Crust Pie except roll pastry 1 inch larger than top of casserole. Cover edges of pie with foil. Place on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake in the 375 degrees oven for 25 minutes.
  5. Then remove foil, and bake for 30 to 35 minutes more or till the crust is golden and the filling is bubbly.

Makes 8 servings.
