SGA is attempting to breathe new life into Ice Fest this year by changing the spirit days and adding new events during which students can show off their Ram pride.

Ice Fest this year will be occurring after winter break whereas in the past it has been held in the middle of December, leading up to the student’s days off of school.

Typically during Ice Fest SGA uses more creative spirit days, but this year, they are reverting back to tradition with days students look forward to. The traditioinal days include, in no particular order, twin day, pajama day, sports day, tacky holiday sweater day and lumberjack day.

These traditional days are designed to get more students involved and showing off their school spirit.

“We’re trying to do a lot more traditional spirit days. We made the mistake of using different ones during homecoming week so we’re trying to do much more traditional ones this time,” junior class council member Caroline Snare said.

In addition, the SGA has moved the Mr. Robinson competition, in which male students can compete amongst their peers to be crowned Mr. Robinson, to the week of Ice Fest.

Unlike in years past, the SGA will be putting on a pep rally for students. Though it will be a shorter rally than the one produced during homecoming week, many of the student’s favorite pep rally events will make an appearance during the Ice Fest rally. Students will be getting out of their last class of the day early.

Though it is still a piece of Ice Fest, the rally will take place before winter break with Ice Fest occurring when students return to school in January.

Allowing students to show their spirit during the winter months, the Ice Fest provides students an opportunity to demonstrate their pride in the school.
