Player Interviews

Name: Joey Plancic

Grade:9

  1. Why did you play powderpuff this year and have you before?
It’s my first year playing powderpuff because I’m a freshman so it’s my first year being able to play. I decided to play because my older sister played and I also wanted to try and play football. I would watch my older sister play and I thought it would be a fun experience to have with my friends.
  2. Do you think your team will be successful this year?
I don’t think my team will be successful at all. Our team can’t really catch and we don’t have any plays planned out. During some practices, my team would scrimmage the sophomores and we would always lose.

    3. What’s your favorite thing about playing?

The best thing about playing for me, is being able to have fun with friends and and experiencing new things. It’s a very fun environment to be a part of and involved in. I have never played football and I’ve loved trying it out.

  1. What was the best thing about the coaches? What would you change about the experience if you could?

The best thing about the coaches was that they really do try to make up plays even when they typically don’t end up working. However, if I could change something about the experience it would be to have better coaches that know how to teach.

  1. What is your position and do you enjoy playing in that position?

I play center, but I would prefer a different position if they weren’t all taken.

Name: Abby Krug

Grade:10

  1. Why did you play powderpuff this year and have you before?
I played powderpuff last year as a freshman and decided to play again this year, because it was a fun experience with friends and I know the coaches which makes the experience better. It was fun playing flag football, I haven’t played it since I was little kid so it was fun to play again.
  2. Do you think your team will be successful this year?
The sophomore class has 15 players this year while our first competitors (Juniors) have around 40, so substituting players will be more difficult but I think it will be fine because we have good athletes and if we don’t win, we tried our hardest.
  3. What’s your favorite thing about playing?

My favorite thing about playing is the relationships and memories  I create that makes this a special event.                 I enjoy that it’s something unique to our school and it’s different and a once a year event.

  1. What would you change about the experience if you could?

Overall, I enjoyed the event, and loved playing with her friends and creating memories. If I could change it, I’d    change the shirts because they are a mens cut and I’d prefer a womens cut that would fit me.

  1. What is your position and do you enjoy playing in that position?

My position is wide receiver and running back.

Name: Blake Hopkins

Grade: 11

  1. Why did you play powderpuff this year and have you before?
This is my third year playing powderpuff, so I have played every year so far. I plan to play next year as a senior. I played powderpuff this year because I enjoy spending time with my friends after school, and the practices keep me active.
  2. Do you think your team will be successful this year?
I think my grade will be successful this year, because we have a lot of athletic girls on the team. There are so many players this year who are strong which I think will help us out.
  3. What’s your favorite thing about playing?

The coaches, they aren’t super insane and are funny and know what they’re talking about.

  1. What would you change about the experience if you could?

Instead of it being just a one day event, I think that it should be two days. If it were two days, I think it would be less tiring for the teams and it would be better for the two final teams to plan things out.

  1. What is your position and do you enjoy playing in that position?

I play wide receiver and I enjoy it.

Yes, my team is looking strong this year and I’m excited to see what we can do.
  3. What’s your favorite thing about playing?

  1. What would you change about the experience if you could?

Powderpuff was rescheduled to late October due to the weather and Hurricane Florence quickly approaching. So if I  could change one thing I would change the weather.
