Is Pixar Ruining Your Childhood?
Pixar has built a huge reputation for itself over the years by coming out with movies like The Incredibles and Finding Nemo, but are sequels coming out up to over 10 years later really necessary? Most of these movies have lost their charm after so many years, mainly because their original audiences are now into their teen years and have lost interest.
The original movies hit their prime in the early 2000’s and there is no other reason that Pixar would be making these sequels except for money. First, many of these original Pixar movies such as Finding Nemo and Toy Story came out such a long time ago that now they just seem like another kids movie coming out. As these sequels keep pressing out one after another, they begin to lose the childhood glamour from the early 2000’s.
Although these movies were a large part of our childhood, it wouldn’t be a surprise if a lot of teens went to see these sequels just out of curiosity. It is fair to say that these movies have sentimental value and that they were a special part of many children’s lives, but when is it going to be enough for Pixar? Pixar made a humongous amount of money on the original movies, which is a good reason for a sequel, just not 12 years later.
Finding Nemo alone made $921 million in the box office, became the second highest grossing movie of 2003, and remained the highest grossing G-rated movie of all time until Toy Story 3 came out. Needless to say, Pixar has no trouble making money and even in at the end of 2015, they would still being doing well without four upcoming sequels.
However, there is no such thing as too much money in large corporations such as Pixar and these movies, even though very late, are going to do the job.
