Cheerleaders Stunt Into Region Finals

Everyone sees them at the Friday night football games, but that is not the biggest focus of their sport.  The varsity cheerleading team finished their competition season earlier this month with a sixth place finish in the Northern Region tournament.

“Our season went really well, we made the region finals, it was an improvement from last year where we only made the region semi-finals,” senior co-captain Katherine Donovan said.

After starting the competition season with a sub-par performance in the district preliminary round, the Rams made some changes to their routine and really focused in practice for their district finals routine.

“We came out flat in the first round [of districts], but in the week of practice between the first round and the finals our routine really clicked,” Donovan said. “We worked really hard to improve and our routine went really well.”

The Rams continued their overall good performance in the Northern regional semi-finals where they finished high enough to qualify for regional finals.

Senior Katrina Seaver said, “Making the [regional] finals was great, it was awesome that we were able to finish the season strong.”
