After a 3-7 season, The Rams are coming into the 2024-25 High School Football season with a chip on their shoulders. For many students, the past season was a disappointment, especially due to the Rams going 7-4 in the 2022-23 season.
I had an opportunity to sit down with Head Coach Shaun Blair, who is going into his second year as the Head Coach for the Football Team. When I walked into the weight room for the interview, I was able to see him going over film with players during lunch, as well as reminding them they were students before being athletes. He showed a confident attitude and winning spirit that potentially, might be able to help the team have a turnaround season.
I first asked him about the struggles from last season. What were the issues on the team and more importantly have they been resolved? He first came off and said “No excuses”. He would add that with it being his first year as head coach it was a transitional period”. He highlighted the mistakes made in games such as the 27-21 week six loss against West Springfield and the loss against Fairfax in week 8. Without these two losses, the Rams would have been a playoff team with a record of 5-5.
In regards to changes made this year, he noted that the skill positions this year (Quarterbacks, Running Backs, Wide Receivers, Tight Ends) are very talented this year and he sees a lot of promise. When asked about the team’s opening home game against South County, Blair said the team “needs to be very good at what we do. Take care of our responsibilities and everything else will take care of itself.”
When it came to the standout players he had seen on this roster he named senior twin brothers, Daniel and Jackson Scaperotto, as well as highlighting senior receiver Keegan Zystra. He noted he was impressed with a lot of players’ off-season workouts and progress and he would set a high goal for the season—Reginal Champions.
Coach Blair aims to take their team back to the heights of the region, This season will be a staple one for Robinson.
