Forty adults gathered at an event fundraiser called “Coffee for a Cause” on Thursday, Oct. 10. This event took place at Katie Hirst’s home and again at the Taste of Robinson on Friday, Oct. 4. The main purpose of these event fundraisers was to raise awareness about Fibromellar Cancer because October is National Liver Cancer Awareness month.

The event was created by Robinson mother Gail Trecosta who holds an interest in the cause. She emailed Robinson faculty regarding the opportunity to host Coffee Socials for Fibromellar Cancer Foundation and after this, Learning Disability teacher Allison Neun followed up with her to discuss having an event at the Taste of Robinson. Another event for the same cause was held at a Robinson family’s home a week later.

The fundraiser contained several treats, coffee, and other beverages. They also raffled off an Alex and Ani Living Water charm bangle.

A video was shown at the home to inform the guests what Fibromellar cancer is and how people are constantly encouraged to raise awareness for the disease, especially in October.

“Most people often forget that October is Liver Cancer Awareness month, and not just Breast Cancer Awareness month,” said Gail Trecosta.

Wrist bands were also given out at the fundraiser to help raise awareness for the disease and many of the 30-40 guests at the event wrote out checks to help fundraise this cause.
